Perfect

I have written this piece to reflect on the reading that I have done for the month of December.
Perfect was about these five girls that used to be best friends. They were best friends until there friend Ali had died. Ali was murdered, these girls took this hard for at least two months, then they decided to go on with their lives and they had gone their separate ways. The girls had all of a sudden had gotten texts or messages from an anonymous person that called their self A. These girls have meet up and discovered that they all had someone watching every move that they make. A had been telling the girls that he or she had known about their secrets and was going to tell the other girls and the world. These secrets have hurt these girls and the people around them. Now they have come together trying to figure out their friend’s murderer and who A is.
Aria’s parents have split up and now she had gotten kicked out of her house. This was because A had sent an anonymous letter to her mother saying that Aria had seen her father cheating on his wife with one of his students. Aria had promised her dad that she wouldn’t say anything to her mom and that is what came back and got her. She has been kicked out of her house because she had kept a major secret from her mother. Spencer had not been focusing on school. She wanted to go to a party so she had sent her teacher an essay that her sister had wrote for the same assignment. Her teacher had put her in a running for a huge award. She has been dealing with that grief because she didn’t really think her essay would make it this far. These four girls have a lot of problems on their hands. Sometimes they pick the bad decision from the good and that is going to come back and bite them in the butt.

Family Matters

Authors note: I have wrote this piece to compare the theme family from two different books. Their similarities and their differences and how their actions reflect on the people they love.

Imagine two teenagers having major trouble with their families, losing their family at such a young age. I have been reading two books; the names of these two books are Sarah Bishop and Perfect. These two books have to deal with the theme of family. There are many ways these two books are similar but there are many ways they’re different also. Aria is a young girl, a modern day rich kid, but she also has some major problems as well as Sarah did in her time.

First, these poor girls have lost their families in some way. Whether it’s them passing away or just getting sent away. Aria is a sixteen year old girl that has been banned from her house. Her mother and her brother never wanted to see her again. She has been left alone in this big world not knowing what to do. She has to figure out where she could stay and how was she going to get food. Until her boyfriend Sean comes to help. This was what a sixteen year old girl shouldn’t have to worry about. Sarah is a fifteen year old girl that has lost her brother, and her father. Her father had been killed for liking the king. Her brother has been killed because he went to war to fight against the king; he had been killed in a British prison. She is also out in this world alone, not knowing where she should stay or what to do. She has adapted to it but Aria has not. Aria walks past her house everyday on her way to school while Sarah doesn’t even have a home. Her home was burnt down by the men that killed her father. Aria has been tempted walking past her house everyday to go and stay there. These girls have a lot on their plates for just being a teenager.

Another reason these girls have something in common is that someone in their family’s have turned their backs on the rest of them. In Sarah’s case her brother had turned his back on the rest of his family. They were all on board with what the king was doing and suddenly he broke the news that he was going to war to fight against the king. This had really disappointed his family and they hadn’t really been on board with him even going to war, let alone he was telling them the day he was leaving for war. Aria’s father had disappointed her family. Aria kind of had a part in that to. That is why she was living on the street. Her father had cheated on his wife and Aria had seen him kissing one of his students. She had promised her father that she wouldn’t tell her mother. Her mother had gotten a note from somebody that had also seen her father with the student and had told her about the affair and also about how Aria knew. Her mother had kicked her father out of her house and had banned Aria from coming home. These two girls had a lot of betrayal that had happened to them; it led to them fending for themselves.

Although they have many similarities they also have many differences. Aria had gotten kicked out of her house because she betrayed her family. She had done wrong to her family and she was getting punished for it. Sarah was a young girl living during the revolutionary war; she had the normal jobs of the women. Her father and her brother had gotten killed because of the war. Even though her father wasn’t in the war he was still killed by soldiers who were. Sarah had done nothing wrong to her family, she didn’t deserve any punishment but she still got some. Another difference is Aria’s boyfriend had let her come and live in his house until she could find somewhere else to stay. She had been treated well and Aria is just happy that she has a bed to sleep and a roof over her head. She had been just given all that even though she had done something wrong. Sarah has no place to go in fact she has been living in a cave in the forest. Finding her own food she has to work to have a shelter and to be eating food. It’s pretty sad for a girl that had done nothing wrong to have to sleep on a hard rock floor. How is it that Aria gets everything handed to her when she’s bad and Sarah has nothing, she didn’t even do anything wrong.
Finally, the last difference is that Aria’s family is very ashamed of her, Sarah’s really appreciated her. This was because Sarah had done everything that her family every wanted her to do. She cooked for them, she cleaned their house, and she took care of them. She was the women of the house which meant she had to do everything that an adult female would do. She really had earned every ones appreciation for her and she respected them because of that. On the other hand Aria had not been appreciated. She kind of helped her father on destroying their family. They would never be the same because she withheld a secret that she should’ve shared with the rest of her family. Her family was very ashamed from her actions they said that they would have felt better for her just to come forward about the truth. It wouldn’t have been her fault it was her fathers. Now, that she had her father’s trust she broke the two people that she loved the most.

In conclusion, these two young girls have had some differences but they are also very much alike. They had to take responsibilities for their actions at a young age. Some of their actions really hurt their families. That is why the major theme of this book is family. They helped their families but they also hurt them to. They found out that everything they do can hurt the people they really love.

Conflicts through a Young Girl's Life

Authors note: This piece has been written to show the conflicts of a young girl’s life and how they have been resolved. This is written on Sarah Bishop my historic fiction book.

Sarah is a young girl that has been living in the forest on her own, during the revolutionary war. This girl had a Father and a brother, but they were both killed. Her father was covered in tar and eventually died. Her brother had gone to fight the king but he has been captured in prison and they killed him. During this time Sarah has had many conflicts while living in the forest, and here are some of them.
While she was on a hunt for her brother, she got accused of burning down a church. She was taken to a prison; it was the prison that her brother had been killed at. She had just found out by one of the men on board that he had been killed. When Sarah found that out she had jumped of the boat into the water. She had quickly swum to shore even though it was a struggle because she hadn’t known how to swim. While she was swimming the soldiers were shooting at her hopefully to hit her. Now, she is being chased because they think that she was the one that burned down the church. Sarah is flinching at every sound that she hears frightened that the two soldiers are behind her. She has made a home in a cave in the forest hoping that she would be safe from those soldiers.
Another conflict that has happened was Sarah was bitten by a Copper head snake. She had no clue on how to treat this bite. She could feel the poison creeping through her whole body. The first second she had no clue why her hand was hurting, and then she saw the snake. Her hand grew two times the size as her arm. It was turning purple. She was hoping for her Indian friends to come back and help her. She had slept outside a bunch of nights because she didn’t have enough strength to walk to the cave.
These conflicts have been resolved! Sarah hadn’t been caught by the British and sooner or later they had lost the trail of her and they just said “forget it; she isn’t going to turn herself in.” In the morning Sarah’s Indian friends had come back, they saw her and were very worried but the wife had known what to do. She had slit a hole with her knife in between where the fangs and gone into her hand. The wife had sucked all the poison out of her hand. She had to take a few days to recover but that was ok. Most of the conflicts have been resolved, and now Sarah has made a home in her cave, and she stated there.

Seeing it Through another Person Eyes

Author’s note: This writing piece is written based upon our social studies reading book. It shows how point of view plays a big role in the reading and how we view it.

Imagine a fifteen year old girl wandering around by herself during the Revolutionary War, this girl was Sarah Bishop. Her father was killed and her brother went off to war. She went looking for her brother to tell him the news. Sarah went to a prison to check there and see if her brother was there. Unfortunately the guard told her yes, but that wasn’t true. She got sent to talk to the Kernel; he said he wasn’t in that prison. They sent her to the right prison and she found out from her brother’s friend that he had died. She was alone now and she was fighting her own battles. During this time she quickly jumped off her boat and swam to shore; while she was doing this the soldiers were shooting at her. In the solders point of view the story would be much different, seeing it through their eyes.
During the book we see everything through Sarah’s eyes it makes us, the readers see the British soldiers as bad people. Sarah has many emotions toward the soldiers. First of all she hates them because they killed the only thing that she had left; her brother. She makes us think that they are the worst people in the world. She hasn’t chosen which side she had liked but when the soldiers starting chasing her as soon as she stepped off that boat, she is slowing changing her mind. She is trying to persuade us, the reader that the British soldiers are the cruelest people the world knows.
However, if you were to read the book through the Soldiers point of view it would be very different compared to a fifteen year old girl. The reader would see why they were chasing Sarah around the world. The soldiers had their reasons that they had to follow her they wanted to see their children again. The reader would react upon what Sarah did, because to them she broke the rules that they were supposed to follow. When you break the rules you have consequences. They had to find her to give her those consequences. If you read it in their point of view you would think that they were the good guys and Sarah was the bad one. That is just how the readers view it.
Point of view plays a big role in when you’re reading books. It makes you chose sides, because each person tells it on how they have viewed it. This book it makes us chooses Sarah’s side just because the way she is telling it, how the soldiers have hurt her in many ways. When Sarah explains her life it really has a huge difference than if the soldiers would explain it.

Same Old Dally

This writing piece is about Dally the character I chose and how he is a static character throughout the whole book.
What is a typical greaser? Someone that has a tough attitude, self-centered, and stubborn, that was Dally. The worst part of all of this was that he thought that he didn’t belong here, that the whole world despised him, but the only good part of him living was Johnny. Johnny was like the son or little brother that Dally never had. Dally is a static character throughout the whole book, from when we met him to the day that he died.
During a few years ago Dally had been arrested, he had gotten arrested only to be at the age of ten. Now, Dally tries to avoid the police at all costs, this is because when something happens they always assume it’s him because of his background. Dally was rarely at his parent’s house, he was always at someone else’s house or even at a bar. Dally was one of those typical greasers that people avoided because of the way he looked. Everyone would think that he would mug them. If anyone sassed back at Dally he would hurt them, unless it was Johnny. Johnny was his prize possession. Nobody knew why, he just was.
During Dally’s time he was a typical greaser as people would say. Dally drank and smoked, he didn’t care if he got drunk, that stuff just didn’t really matter. Dally was the kind of person that doesn’t care about what people thought of him. Dally was disrespectful, cruel, nasty, self-seeking, to everyone around him. In this instance when Dally, Ponyboy, and Johnny were at the movies and Cherry and her friend were in front of them. Of course Dally being himself, made fun of those girls, called them names, kicked their seats and when Cherry asked him to stop he mocked her. He just thought it was funny, and didn’t think about it, what if he was in Cherry’s shoes. Dally carried around a gun that wasn’t loaded just to intimidate people. He wanted others around him to be scared of him. Dally couldn’t miss a rumble for his life. Fighting was part of Dally’s life. He had to be in them, everyone was terrified to go against him though. If you messed with him he would hurt you. He could put someone in the hospital, but he would only severely hurt one of the socs. He would hurt one of the greasers but not very bad, he would typically slap them. On the other hand if Johnny were to sass back to him, he wouldn’t harm a hair on Johnny’s head. That was just the way there relationship worked.
Meanwhile, the day that Johnny had gone into a burning church to save five young kids, that day changed Dally’s life. While Johnny was in that church with Ponyboy his back had got crushed with a beam from the church. He had also gotten severely burned. Dally knew Johnny would never be able to walk anymore. When Dally saw his son/brother being crushed he knew he had to go save him. He brought him out of the church cuts on his face, bruises he was like a new born baby in his arms. That day when they went to see Johnny in the hospital, was the worst day of Dally’s life. He found out that Johnny had died and he had nothing to live for anymore. That night after the rumble Ponyboy and the rest of the greasers found out that Dally had robbed a grocery store. They knew that Dally didn’t want to live anymore because he had nothing to live for. Dally knew that the police would come after him, when he heard the sirens coming he put his hand into his pocket. As soon as Ponyboy saw that he knew that he didn’t want to live anymore. Dally had told Johnny and him that he never has that gun loaded. At that moment that he went to take his hand out of his pocket, they heard shots fired and it was too fast for them to see it but Dally was on the floor. This was the point, Dally didn’t care about what the others had felt, and they had also lost one of their best friends. He didn’t think about the rest of the greasers and what they would think and feel when he decided that he shouldn’t live anymore. He was selfish, and he just didn’t care about anyone but himself.
Dally had his tough attitude, trying to be cool, mean, rude, wanted everyone to be intimidated by him that was just Dally. That is how he was throughout his whole life. His friends from the greasers got used to him being that way and learned to just go with it otherwise you got abused. That is just how Dally lived his life, it was his choice to take his life and that’s what he did.

How Could You Do This?

Dear Ali,
When you saw Toby staring at you guys in the window, you just should’ve asked him to go away and shut the blinds. Instead you said “we have to give him a taste of his own medicine.” The rest of the girls didn’t want you to have done what you did. You should’ve listened to Aria when she said “what if something goes wrong.” That wasn’t a good idea because you really hurt Jenna.
When you asked them if you should’ve gotten revenge on Toby by lighting a fire work into his tree house to scare him, they thought it was a bad idea and they were right. Have you ever heard of two wrongs don’t make a right? Next time you should just ignore him. The other girls didn’t want you to do that but you kept bugging them because you knew they would say “yes” eventually. That is just not being a good friend pushing them to do something that they didn’t want to do. When you pressure a person, it makes them very uncomfortable-- a best friend shouldn’t do that! If you were around your best friend, imagine them trying to get you to do something that you didn’t want to do, what would you do? You would feel uncomfortable around them and wouldn’t really want to be around that person.
Plus, you know what you did to that family? You frightened them for life. Jenna was in that tree house instead of Toby, and when you blew that firework up there Jenna got blind. She has to deal with that her whole life. How would you like to be blind because of some immature girl that couldn’t get over something? Just think about this before you go and prank someone. The worst part about it was that you didn’t confess to the police that it was you that lit the firework. You know who took the blame? It was Toby; he isn’t so bad, is he now? He saw you light that firework; you’re going to have to deal with that grief your whole life. Just think about it before you go pressuring people, and “prank” someone. It could really hurt you and the other person. You’re going to deal with this the rest of your whole life. You really could’ve done something different to deal with Toby. Although he looked through your window you could’ve gone on with your lives, instead you had to make a big deal about it, and that hurt a lot of people.
Sincerely,
Madisen

What is a True Family?

Author’s note: This piece has been written to show what a true family is and how the greasers fit that definition.
What would your definition of a family be? The truth is a family doesn’t have to be blood related, it means more than that. A family is someone that is always there for you, cares about you, sticks up for you. You guys will stick together through thick and thin times. That is what true families are all about.
Throughout, Johnny’s life his parents have never been there for him. When Johnny was in the hospital from being severely burned, an old churches wood crushed his back, his face all purple and blue from the bruises he had gotten. He knew that he wasn’t going to last another day and he knew he was dying. His mother walked in those white and black front doors of the hospital, his friend Ponyboy and Two-bit told him. At that moment that they had told him she was there, Johnny told them to tell her to leave. He knew what was going to come out of his mother’s mouth. She would’ve told him how disappointed she was in him and how mad she was at him for getting hurt. Johnny just didn’t want to even see her the day that he died. He realized that she wasn’t important to him like the greasers were. Just like Dally he was one of the Socs when he was in high school, you can imagine him walking down the hallway and everybody wanted to be him. Until the day that his parents died and he had to give up his dream of being the star quarterback. He had to quit school to work and take care of his brothers so that they wouldn’t end up in foster care. That just shows how much that you can be blood related as a family but most people aren’t included the greasers.
Although, Johnny’s parents didn’t really take care of him the greasers did. The greasers were a group that hung out with one another. Dally and his brothers even leave their door unlocked at night in case one of the greasers don’t have anywhere else to sleep and just needs a place to stay. These boys stuck together even when Johnny had killed the socs leader Bob they stayed together and worked through it together, to make sure nobody got hurt. The day that Ponyboy got mugged two-bit said this “I guess it runs in our family”. That shows how they call themselves. There one big family. They also said that because Johnny also got mugged a while ago. “Sure little Buddy” that was the first time Darry has every called Ponyboy that, and that was the greatest day of Ponyboy’s life. That meant Darry does really love him and care for him. This really shows that you don’t have to be blood related to be a family. They stayed together through everything and they trusted one another and that is all a family needs.
I know what it’s like to be a family without being blood related. My soccer team and I are really close together. I feel I can tell them anything. We are always together and having a great time. We all stick up for one another and we stay together through thick and thin. Any of them could be my sister, actually it seems as they already are. I would do anything for them as they would do for me. Sense we bond so much it just feels like we are already a family. We are a soccer family.
Whether it’s a soccer team, people that are blood related to you, or just your best friend. You are all a family. Caring, sticking up for one another, staying together no matter what happens in your lives. This is all a definition of what a true family is, and that is what exactly the greasers are. They fit this definition perfectly.

The Outsiders

Author’s note: This piece of writing is to predict what is going to happen after chapter 5 of the outsiders and why I predicted that.

Freezing, wet, hungry, and lonely, these are all the things that Johnny and Ponyboy are feeling right now. They are hiding in an old rundown church on a top of a grassy hill. Let me not get ahead of myself. Ponyboy and his two brother’s darry and Soda pop were at home and Pony came home late from the movies, Darry who was in charge got mad at him and slapped him across the fist. That moment was the worst moment of Ponyboy life. Darry has never hit him before all three of the boys were shocked at what happened Ponboy ran out of the house crying. Ponyboy and his friend Johnny went to the park so they could cool off. The last thing they wanted to happen was having the socs come. They heard the engine of the blue mustang and they knew they were in trouble. The socs came and they argued and Bob the leader of the socs took Ponyboy’s head and was drowning him in the water fountain at the park. To save his life Johnny knew he had to do something. Bob was the one that hurt Johnny and now Johnny cares a knife with him wherever he goes now. The only thing that Johnny could think of was that knife he took it out of his back pocket and stabbed Bob in the back. The other socs ran away. Johnny quickly grabbed Ponyboy and they went to find Dally and he would know what to do. Dally sent them to where they are now at the old church.
In the next couple of chapters I predict that Johnny and Ponboy are going to come home and be with the rest of their family, the greasers. Also, I think they will also have to spend some time in jail because of what they have done. They will wait a while to come home; they will stay at that old rundown church for a couple more weeks. This is because eventually the news will calm down and everyone will forget about the whole thing. There is one group of people that will never forget what happened, and that would be the socs. They will try to get some revenge on Johnny and Ponyboy because they were the ones that killed the leader of their group and that is defiantly not ok with them. The two boys will probably have to travel with the rest of their group so they don’t get mugged. Another huge reason why they will come home and not be caught right away is because Dally sent the police to Texas. He told them that they will be traveling down their so they will go down there and look for him, they couldn’t tell that Dally was lying about it. They will eventually get caught though because the police will still be looking for them.
Living in that church will get lonely and eventually the two boys will come home. When that happens they will be ready for the socs to find out. For the news to die down, also they will probably be caught by the police after they get back from Texas, after they can’t find them there. They will figure out that they have been here. Ponyboy would probably stick with Johnny in jail. They know they have to face their consequences sooner or later.

My Pride of my Country

Authors Note: I am writing this peace to show my pride in my country and why I am so proud.

I have a ton of pride in my country. They have risked their lives for me to be here and have my freedom. I just can’t imagine what it would be like if I lived somewhere else, my life wouldn’t be the same. The United States has more things than other countries have and they want them. My pride is because of the way that we have developed and came together in the world.
Many military men and women have risked their life to make mine better and just our whole countries life better. Their family have let them risk there life. They’d rather have themselves helping their country than other people doing it for them. These people are really brave and they love protecting us. They don’t even know who they are fighting for anyway that is just how special these men and women are. I am very happy and thankful that we have these people here in our lives I don’t come to think of it as much as we should but I am truly thankful and proud of these military men and women.
Our country has helped many other countries in the world our country really can save lives when we all work together. They have given medical help to those countries that don’t have any medical supplies and they need help. We give them things that they need to stay alive. We have helped other countries that have been through natural disasters we have all helped raise money had given those people food and water. We have been a big help to those countries who really needed us.
Finally, we have freedom to do what we want when we want. We don’t have to listen to anyone, unless they’re parents of course. You don’t have to go to a certain church or a certain school. You have that decision to make for yourself. You can have your own personality your own choices to make and not having someone making them for you. That is a life skill is making your own decisions not someone making them for you.
I have so much pride because we have grown to be able to make our own decisions not someone making them for us, people risking their life for me to live, and most of all we help many people that are in need of them. My pride goes a long way with all the things that we have accomplished and have grown together in.

My Life Turned Around

Author’s note: This piece was created to let the reader be entertained and understand about being yourselve.
Kyle was a junior at a high school in Georgia, and was one of the most popular people in school. He was the captain of the football team and he was dating the head cheerleader, he had everything that a guy could want. Until the day that he found out that he had to star in the school play because he was failing his drama class. Then everything in his life stopped.
Kyle drove to school the next day with his girlfriend Amanda in the front seat. He had picked her up on his way to school. They got out of the car and then walked to the courtyard to hang out with his friends. He sat down at a picnic table next to his friends. Amanda came and sat next to him. She was hanging on him because she thought she was so cool. Kyle was starting to get sick of her always being right on top of him. He was going to say something to her because he was tired of it then the bell rang.
His first class of the day was drama he was failing drama so his teacher said he had to be the lead role in the play, otherwise he was going to get kicked of the football team. The play that they were doing was Grease. Kyle was going to try out for the role of Danny. He tried out in front of the class and they decided that he should get the role. The outsider at this school her name was Emily. She had tried out for the role of Sally she was amazing. Everyone didn’t think she could sing that well. The next day at school she asked him if he needed any help with any of his lines. He just ignored her because that was the cool thing to do. Then Kyle was disconcerted with all the lines that he had to remember and then he took her up on that offer. Every day after school he would drive them back to her house and they would practice.
The next day he picked Amanda up from her house to take her to school with him. They went out to the courtyard again and sat at the same table. This time Kyle told Amanda that he was getting tired of her hanging on him. He broke up with Amanda, and she was begging him to stay with her. They had been dating a whole year. He had to focus on the play so he could get his grades up.
The night of the play was tonight, it went by so fast. All his friends were going to be there and he was embarrassed to be singing with Emily. She was in her dressing room and he was in his. He was on the stage first he had the first song. While he was starting to sing his song Emily was in her outfit. It was a white and blue dress, she looked stunning. She was walking out to sing her part of the song now. Kyle was just so shocked of how beautiful she was. He thought about all those times he had ignored her and just made her feel like an outsider. He thought about what all his friends would say about him going to ask her out. He didn’t care about what other people thought anymore.
After they were done with the play they went out to dinner. She said to him “why did you choose me instead of all those cheerleaders”. He said back to her “you are more beautiful than all of them”. That night he took her home. The next day he picked her up and took her to school. The cheerleaders were making fun of Emily and Amanda was the head of it. Kyle stood up to them and took her to their drama class. Kyle looked at his grade for the play and it was up to a B-.
Kyle was the quarterback of the football team all through high school. He and Emily had dated all through high school. He found out it didn’t matter what other people thought it was his life so he had to live it. After high school they went their separate ways. Ten years later Emily went to one of Kyle’s college football games. He saw her in the stands and after the game he went to go talk to her. The first thing out of his mouth as he got down on one knee was “Will you marry me.” Emily said “yes!” They lived their life happily together.

Clear Your Mind Go Outside

Author’s note: I wrote this piece about why students need to go outside during the school day.

Have you ever seen a student in your class that is always jumping in their seat? They are never focused by the end of the day. Talking too much and disturbing people. Do you think they would act the same if they had some fresh air time? Fresh air is very important in a child’s life they need it to help their learning ability.
The first important reason why they need some fresh air is that they will start to learn better. When they go outside it is clearing there mind. The stress is leaving there mind and they just had fifteen minutes to focus on something that doesn’t have to deal with school. When it’s time for them to come back in they are more focused now. This is because they had some time to do what they want outside and be with their friends. When they come back in they will take the information in their brains better and they will be more focused.
Next, for the teacher’s sake they will get all their energy out when they are outside. They will be running around and playing with their friends. They will work better in the classroom they won’t be so anxious and they won’t be jumping around in there seat or disturbing the class by talking all the time. These students that do this they are the students that don’t get any fresh air at all. It’s very important to kids that they get to go outside and talk to each other and run around. This is just what kids love to do it’s one of their hobbies.
Finally, if you were a parent wouldn’t you want your kids to want to go to school and enjoy it? When students get their time outside they are going to want to come to school the next day because they know they will get more time. It is like a reward to them to go outside. Soon they will start to love to come to school for the fresh air and the learning. This is what teachers want and parents want. They don’t want to have their kids be miserable. That is just what they are going to be when they don’t go outside. Parents aren’t going to be happy and when their kids come home crabby and want nothing to do with them. Fresh air will help that and their kids will come home, their parents will enjoy them feeling good.
Getting fresh air is one of the most important things that a child needs in their life. It will help them learn better and pay attention. Students will want to come to school and will want to learn. Parents will be happier when their kids come home because they won’t be crabby. Fresh air helps these students grow physically and mentally.

Casey Ruined the Game

Author’s note: A diary entry to myself from the story Casey and the bat. How Casey ruined the game for all his fans and why they are all upset with him.

Dear diary,
Casey totally blew the game for his team, his team was down four to two and he was up to bat with a person on second and third. Casey was way too focused on his ego thinking he was the best on the team, if you really think about it he isn’t that much better than most of the players on that team. When it was Casey’s turn to go up to bat he was too focused on the crowd. The pitcher threw the first pitch and it was good, but Casey just let the ball go right by, he didn’t even try to swing he said it wasn’t his type of pitch. He was worried about the crowd instead of hitting the ball! The pitcher was getting ready to throw the next pitch, but you know Casey, it wasn’t his style. If he would’ve tried to swing at these pitches he might have hit one, he would never know unless he tried. When the pitcher was getting ready to throw the third pitch he pointed into the crowd because he was sure he was going to hit it. The pitcher threw the ball and he swung but he totally missed the ball. If he would’ve tried to hit all those pitches maybe he would’ve hit one. He blew the game and he disappointed the whole crowd and town. He especially disappointed me, I was his biggest fan and it took me until now to realize that Casey is really cocky and full of himself I hope Casey has changed sense then.
Sincerely,
His fan Madisen

Best Friends

Imagine a little boy since the day he was born always friendly and helpful to the people and environment around him. This was the exact definition of a boy named Pierre. Pierre named the horse Peter. They were royal and true to one another ever since they met. The best friend award is perfect for this boy named Pierre.
On the morning of April 16th Pierre woke up at 7:15 in the morning. He was so excited because today was his birthday. As any little kid that was turning eight, would run into their parent’s room and wake them up. Pierre walked out of his bedroom, down the hall way, passed the stairs, and the bathroom to get to his parents giant room. All the lights were off; the room was shined with light because the blinds were slightly open. Pierre climbed on the bed and started to jump and say “Mom, dad wake up! It’s my birthday.” They all walked downstairs to the kitchen. The kitchen had a lot of cupboards that were full and everything was in place. For breakfast they had pancakes that were perfectly brown and toasted. Pierre’s mom even gave him some strawberries for a little extra flavor on his special day. After Pierre was done eating breakfast, his dad called him out to the barn. Pierre thought that he was going to have to do chores on his birthday but instead his dad said that he had a surprise. When Pierre walked into the barn he saw a little fowl. The fowl was small and brown; it looked like it was just learning how to walk. The fowl’s legs were shaking when they were trying to move. Pierre said that he was going to name him Peter. Pierre was so happy he spent the whole day in the barn feeding and spending time with the fowl to get to know him better. Pierre said to the horse “I promise to take care of you and stand by you no matter what happens, you’re the best thing that ever happened to me”. The next day Pierre had to go back to school because it was Monday. Pierre wasn’t doing very well in his classes and this was because all he was thinking about was his horse. He faked sick because he needed to be home with his horse. Pierre did this a couple other days also. His parents decided that the horse was going to have to stay at the neighbor’s house until Pierre can get his grades up and concentrate on his chores and getting real friend’s that aren’t animals. The day that Peter was getting taken away was the worst day of Pierre’s life. He had to keep his promise that night and he climbed out the window and snuck out to see him. He spent time with him reading and talking to him. When Pierre left to go home he said to the horse “I promise to get you home soon”. The next week he talked to his dad and asked him if Peter can come home. He spent two weeks getting his school work done and chores and his dad said yes because he got all caught up. Pierre did this so he can stay with his best friend; he wanted to keep the true friendship. These two friends were loyal to one another. They kept their promise until the day that they died they stuck together for their whole life. The best friend award is perfect for these two because they were the perfect best friends.
The best friend’s award was perfect for this boy. Pierre kept his promise to the horse that he would stick by his side no matter what would happen to them both.

Deep Water

Imagine being scared of something your whole life just because some little thing happened to you when you were little. This caused the boy in the story to not want to do anything with water, like tubing, swimming with his friends, going to water parks and having fun. In the story “Deep Water”, by William O. Douglas when you have a lifelong fear many people don’t have enough courage to overcome it.
Although you may have a life fear to go on with life you have to overcome or want to conquer it. This takes a lot of courage for this to happen. If something happens to you when you’re little it may scar you for most of your life. Many people don’t want to conquer these fears because they may feel embarrassed or they are just to scared to do it. There are also many people that have to overcome their fear because maybe they can’t go on with life unless they do. It does take a lot of courage to do these things and many people just don’t have enough courage to do them. Childhood fear leading into teenage and adulthood fear is a big thing in the United States. On the website fears and phobias, 75% of these fears start off with part of a childhood fear and they can’t overcome them. They just don’t have enough gut do this because they think that whatever happened to them will happen again. Worst yet it could be worse then what happen to them before.
Though the boy when he was three or four he got knocked down by waves and his dad didn’t help him get back up and just laughed. The boy got older he decided to try to overcome these fears at the Y.M.C.A pool. When he got there this 18 year old boy threw him in the pool and he drowned. Somebody, finally got pulled out of the water. Someone that I know was working in the backyard with her husband. They were cutting up there tree that fell down. There was one piece off the tree that wouldn’t stand up by itself. The wife said that she would hold up the log. When the husband started to cut through the log he didn’t notice that her hand was right there. The wife was screaming for him to stop cutting, the chainsaw was so loud that he couldn’t hear. He almost cut threw the whole bone of her finger but then stopped because she started to cry. He felt bad because of what happened. She was scared of chainsaws for a long time until one day she decided to forget what happen in the passed and start over. Just like in the story the boy soon forgot about what happened and now he does a lot of things with water and so does the wife.
Being scared of things for your whole life might not make you have as much fun. If you work on it or keep trying you maybe could forget about this fear in life and what happened in the past and move on and have a better life.

Noah's Ark

Imagine being in a dark black tube with water splashing you in the face every time you turn a corner. When you get to the bottom you drop off into a big pool of water. Little kids screaming when they go down a slide. This was my favorite memory that I had when I went to Noah’s Ark last summer. When I read the story “Deep Water” it reminded me of this perfect memory that I will never forget.
During the day that I was there with my sister and three cousins. We tried to go on every single ride that we could before the day were over. There were only two adults and I was the oldest kid. Being the oldest I had to keep track of all the little ones because the adults don’t like going on the slides. Some of the water slides that were the most fun are the Black Anaconda, Time Warp, Black Thunder, and many more that were just as fun. When the day was over everybody wanted to stay, and we were all really tired from being in the sun. On the way home because the little 5 year old said, “This is the best day of my life”. By the time we got home everyone was sleeping. “Deep Water” reminded me of this day because when the boy was nearly drowning he felt a rush of water over him. He felt like he was all surrounded by water and there was no way out. I was around water slides and water all day and that made me not want to leave.
Have you ever seen or heard any advertisement about a water park? Let’s say you hear about a new ride or how fun the park is. When I see or hear these things it all reminds me of that day when I went to Noah’s Ark. When we read the story “Deep Water” this short story reminds me of when we all got knocked down by the wave pool. In the story the child almost drowns. When we got knocked down we just got back up nothing serious happens.
Last summer when I went to Noah’s Ark it was one of the most fantastic childhood memories that I will never forget. Going down those dark slides and having water splashed on me was the best feeling that anyone could have. That is why I loved the story “Deep water” because it made me feel like I was right back there again.

The Ciruit Essay

The Circuit

Imagine having no friends or your best friend is your teacher. What would your life be like? In the story “The Circuit” by “Francisco Jimenez” this boy has to go through his life moving from place to place and doesn’t even bother making any friends because he knows they won’t be friends for long.
Every kid in the world needs to have friends to discuss there secrets and just have a conversation with. Most kids need to socialize with somebody besides their family members. Somebody that they can trust. About 25% of humans have no one to talk to. They suffer from emotional pain and possibly they could be depressed. In this story, Panchito is a boy that has no friends. But one day he meets his teacher. He has never been to school before because he and his family move a lot. His teacher became his best friend. At recess and during lunch he’s taught how to play the trumpet by his only friend. This boy finally found some happiness in his life until he found out that he had to move again. He finally found a true friend that was honest and they were true to each other. His teacher understood him and what he was going through.
Although people don’t have friends, it could be because they have moved and couldn’t make any. This boy never had a friend do to the fact that he had to move all the time. Have you ever had to move? Possibly you would have to leave all your friends and your neighbors that you’ve been around forever. I had to move when I was in 4th grade. My mom and dad decided that they wanted to build a house that was closer to my family. Now we have a whole neighborhood that is just me and my family. This boy and his family had to move a lot because they needed jobs and their family was poor. They lived with a family and worked on their vineyard.
Moving is a tough thing when you’re a kid. You make friends and then you never are going to see them again. Friends are one of the most important things that a child could have.
